Caroline Wozniacki wins second China Open title

Caroline Wozniacki wins second China Open title”

Wozniacki defeated China's Wang Qiang 6-1, 6-3 in the other semifinal. Zhang broke to go 2-0 up and Osaka - who has admitted struggling with the fall-out from the US Open final, when Williams rowed with the chair umpire - began welling up. Last week, she got to the Pan Pacific Open final in Tokyo.

It is her second China Open crown - she also won it in 2010 - and 30th overall.

Wozniacki will play Anastasija Sevastova in Sunday's final after the Latvian continued her excellent end-of-season form with victory over US Open champion Naomi Osaka.

"Then if you win one Grand Slam, they're like, 'Oh, she only won one Grand Slam'".

Osaka, 20, required a medical break in the second set for what appeared to be lower back pain.

"But my back's sort of been bothering me since the beginning of the tournament".

As it has been the case in her previous matches here in Beijing, Osaka had to overcome some shaky serving out of the gate, with a double fault in her first service game helping her opponent drag her to break point.

The 20th-ranked Latvian will face the victor of the semifinal between China's Wang Qiang and Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark.

"She didn't give me any presents, it was tough", said Sevastova, who retired in May 2013 because of persistent injuries, only to return in January 2015.

Sevastova has never won a Premier Mandatory event but needs to win the title to keep her chances of qualifying for the WTA Finals alive. Meanwhile, Argentinas Juan Martin del Potro beat Filip Krajinovic of Serbia in straight sets to advance to the men's singles semi-finals.
