Susan Collins: I don't believe Kavanaugh was Ford's assailant”

But constituents in ME have told a different story since Collins' speech last Friday, in which she suggested that Dr. Christine Blasey Ford incorrectly remembered Kavanaugh as the person who assaulted her when the two were in high school and claimed the judge had displayed an appropriate temperament for a Supreme Court justice.

"His anger and his anguish, I think is, are understandable given that he's been accused of being involved in gang rapes of women".

Last week Rice, who served in the Obama administration, generated a strong reaction when she tweeted "me" in response to a post from former White House Communications Director Jen Psaki asking, "Who wants to run for Senate in Maine?"

The Senate narrowly voted Friday to limit debate on Kavanaugh's nomination, advancing it to Saturday's final confirmation vote.

"This vote is a complete betrayal of ME voters, of the women who have called her offices, and written letters, and organized phone banks, and attended rallies, and told their very deeply painful stories to her and her staff".

Alaska Republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski (left) crossed the aisle and indicated that she will not vote to confirm Kavanaugh, while Virginia Democratic Sen. "I don't know by whom, and I'm not certain when, but I do not believe that he was the assailant". They had even attempted what some senators called a "bribe", raising millions of dollars in campaign pledges that they said they would donate to her opponent if she voted for President Trump's nominee.

They should have all of the classmates who've been calling into the news shows and writing letters, including the clerks who have withdrawn their support, take the mic: Make visible the testimony that the FBI ignored, & make a spectacle of their mishandling of the investigation.

Today's vote for Kavanaugh was 50-48. According to a new report from Planned Parenthood, 25 million US women of reproductive age "are poised to lose access to abortion immediately if Kavanaugh is the fifth vote to overturn Roe vs. Wade".

In reply to Dickerson's question why the fact that Fold told her husband and her therapist about the assault long ago did not amount to corroboration, Collins cited Ford's failure to avail herself of the opportunity to have further interviews with bipartisan staff investigators of the Judiciary Committee.

She also "didn't speak to about 30 protesters gathered in front of her home in Bangor" on Sunday.

Steve Nason, 44, said he had always questioned Ms. Collins' claims to be a moderate but that her speech impressed him with its thoroughness and thoughtfulness.

'I have reservations about this vote, ' he said in a statement, but 'based on all the information I have available to me, including the recently completed Federal Bureau of Investigation report, I have found Judge Kavanaugh to be a qualified jurist who will follow the Constitution and determine cases based on the legal findings before him'. Rice is weighing whether to try to unseat Republican Sen.

But Rice defended her connection to the state, saying at a New Yorker event that "My ties to ME are long and deep". She said her flight was delayed but she was determined return to ME for the dedication of a bridge honoring the late Cpl. "My bottom line is I'm going to give it due consideration, after the midterms, " she said.
