Liverpool striker has surgery on hand injury”

Salah returned early from global duty after being forced off with a muscle strain during Egypt's 4-1 victory over Swaziland in an African Nations Cup qualifier last Friday.

Liverpool have received a major fitness boost with Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk involved in training ahead of Saturday's trip to Huddersfield Town.

Jurgen Klopp has had to watch on with growing frustration through the worldwide break, as several players picked up knocks.

Liverpool said on Wednesday that forward Sadio Mane had undergone successful surgery on a hand injury he sustained while on global duty with Senegal.

Salah suffered a muscle problem during Egypt's defeat of Swaziland while Van Dijk picked up a rib injury in the Netherlands' victory over Germany.

A broken thumb for Sadio Mane, which required surgery, could also force Klopp into further changes to his side.

'I know Jurgen long enough that I know he loves to use some smokescreens, ' Wagner, who coached the second team at Borussia Dortmund when Klopp was in charge of the senior side, told a news conference.

"I expect that most of his players will be available".

But Wagner is not convinced any of them will miss the match at 5.30pm on Saturday.

"Every performance gives you belief and every win gives you belief - unfortunately we have no wins so far - but we have performed at a good level consistently over the last weeks and in training the guys look very good as well".
