US Soldier Killed In Apparent Insider Attack In Kabul”

North Ogden Mayor Brent Taylor died Saturday in an apparent "insider attack" in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan, the Salt Lake Tribune reported.

"Initial reports indicate the attacker was a member of the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces", Resolute Support revealed in an official press release."Initial reports also indicate the attacker was immediately killed by other Afghan Forces". Officials say another USA service member is being treated for wounds sustained in the attack in Kabul on Saturday. When he was elected to the City Council of North Ogden in 2009, and became mayor in 2013, he was determined to bring the booming economic growth that was happening in other parts of Utah to his town, which he felt had untapped potential at that time.

The unexpected death of Taylor, who was months from finishing his tour and is survived by seven children and his wife Jennie, drew an outpouring of grief in Utah and on social media late Saturday. Utah weeps for them today.

"I hate this. I'm struggling for words. This war has once again cost us the best blood of a generation".

Utah Gov. Gary Herbert and Burton were scheduled to speak to the media on Sunday afternoon. "His pictures and descriptions gave me a deeper understanding of our military's service and sacrifice".

'My heart breaks for the loss and sacrifice of our Soldier, particularly for the family, ' said adjutant general Maj. "A news conference will be held tomorrow morning". Previously, he served 12 years as an officer in the United States Army National Guard, including seven years on active duty, as well as two tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan.

"There are three great loyalties that have guided my life and everything in it: God, family and country", Taylor said then.

'I am proud of the fearless Afghan and U.S. soldiers I serve with. "And right now there is a need for my experience and skills to serve in our nation's long-lasting war in Afghanistan".

North Ogden City Councilman Phillip D. Swanson confirmed the news.

His last Facebook post, on October 28, highlighted a successful election in Afghanistan. In September, he celebrated from afar his 15th anniversary with his wife, Jennie Taylor. Earlier that month, he wrote, he had watched his youngest child learn to walk via Skype. The last post I read was about Afghanistan's free and open elections.

"As the U.S. gets ready to vote in our own election next week, I hope everyone back home exercises their precious right to vote", Taylor wrote.

'And that whether the Republicans or the Democrats win, that we all remember that we have far more as Americans that unites us than divides us. "We feel blessed to have had him as our mayor".
