Doctors baffled after Texas girl’s inoperable brain tumor disappears

Doctors baffled after Texas girl’s inoperable brain tumor disappears”

When 11-year-old Roxli Doss and her family were given the news that she had developed a brain tumor that was inoperable, you can imagine their dismay. "You have decreased ability to swallow, sometimes vision loss, decreased ability to talk, eventually difficulty with breathing".

According to Boston's Children Hospital, almost 300 children a year are diagnosed with DIPG. Prognosis for the condition also remains poor.

Dr Harrold explained that Roxli's DIPG was confirmed by four different medical providers, including Johns Hopkins Medical Center, meaning the chances of her being mis-diagnosed were nearly impossible.

Harrod said the now 11-year-old went through weeks of radiation, even though there is no cure.

Doctors say they can't explain what happened.

When I first saw Roxli's MRI scan, it was actually unbelievable.

'The tumor is undetectable on the MRI scan, which is really unusual'. The family held a benefit for her in August, but, at that point, all her parents, Gena and Scott, could do was pray for a miracle.

Roxli's father said doctors at five hospitals, including Johns Hopkins, all agreed that the young girl had the disease.

The family tells KHOU they will continue to watch her closely and continue to undergo treatments as a precaution.

"Praise God we did", Scott added.

"Every day we still say it", Gena told the ABC affiliate.

A GoFundMe has been set up for Roxli has already raised more than $25,000 toward its $50,000 goal.

A GoFundMe crowd-funding campaign has raised almost $30,000 for the girl's medical bills.

"Please donate and send all your love and prayers to make things easier on the Doss family and help out our little Roxstar", the fundraiser description reads.
