Man United's Rashford the best in the Premier League - Solskjaer

Man United's Rashford the best in the Premier League - Solskjaer”

Forward Rashford was on target again in United's 2-1 win over Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday - taking his tally to five in the seven games since Solskjaer was appointed a month ago.

On his 150th appearance for the club the 21-year-old curled one into the top corner from a tight angle. He has the world ahead of him and can be one of the best in the world.

"You can argue for many strikers but I'm glad he's in my team", Solskjaer said.

"He finishes, tries to shoot, he doesn't think twice about it".

"But the scary thing with Marcus, when he runs at you with the ball he's impossible to defend and I reminded him to keep doing that, to just get the ball and run at defenders". Paul [Pogba]'s scored four since I came here.

Solskjaer - who suggested that match-winner Marcus Rashford is a challenger for the title of best current Premier League striker - said the top four was a genuine target for United, though third is surely still a firm aspiration.

After moving to Old Trafford in 1996, Solskjaer scored 126 goals for United in 11 seasons.

"I wouldn't have done it that way but the way he strikes the ball is good enough".

Pascal Gross pulled one back but Solskjaer was still able to achieve the feat of becoming the first United manager to win his first six league games in charge. Going into gameweek 23, United were level on points with 5th placed Arsenal (41), and just 6 behind Chelsea who are 4th in the table.

Brighton boss Chris Hughton said: "Certainly I wasn't disappointed with the overall performance". I think [Pochettino] gets the best out of his players whether they are younger or older.

"But you have to let him do that because two or three of them passes will create goals, will create opportunities".

Wayne Rooney believes Paul Pogba needs to be left to play his own game in order to get the best out of him, something he suggests did not happen under Jose Mourinho.
