Leicester City Have Sacked Manager Claude Puel

Leicester City Have Sacked Manager Claude Puel”

Claude Puel has been sacked by Leicester City, the club announced on Sunday.

However, Cottee thinks Leicester may bring in a temporary boss to keep them clear of the drop zone - they are now 12th, eight points clear of the bottom three.

And Leicester have opted to make the change, with a club statement reading: "Leicester City Football Club has parted company with Claude Puel, who leaves his position as First Team Manager with immediate effect".

Leicester have had a dismal start to the year and have suffered four consecutive home defeats - their worst record since 2000 - and gone seven games without a win.

Assistant Manager Jacky Bonnevay also departs with the Club's best wishes. The former Southampton boss steadied the ship and eventually led the Foxes to a ninth-place finish in the Premier League.

This season, Leicester have won nine of their 27 league matches, including back-to-back victories over Manchester City and Chelsea over the festive period. A woeful second-half performance from the Foxes saw the Eagles storm to an emphatic victory, and it would prove to be the end of the road for the French boss, who has failed to find the recipe for success at the King Power Stadium.

Leicester fans were also furious that he named a weakened side for the Carabao Cup quarter-final against Manchester City which they went on to lose on penalties.

The Foxes also suffered a shock exit in the FA Cup third-round to League Two side Newport County on January 6.

Puel has been under pressure for some time with the club's supporters being vocal in their displeasure at the team's style of play under his management. "We must keep going".
