Russian TV lists potential nuclear strike targets in USA after Putin warning”

Russian state television has broadcast a list of USA military facilities that it claimed Moscow would target in the event of a nuclear strike.

It comes after Vladimir Putin warned Russian Federation is ready for a new Cuban Missile Crisis if the USA wants one, after President Trump tore up a key Cold War arms treaty. The TV channel named the Pentagon, US presidential retreat Camp David, Fort Ritchie in Maryland, McClellan Air Force Base in California, and Jim Creek as possible targets.

The Russian TV program, called "Vesti Nedeli" and featuring Dmitry Kiselyov, presented the list during a broadcast Sunday evening.

He then demonstrated the speed at which a Russian hypersonic missile could reach each of these targets if a nuclear war broke out between the US and Russia.

Russian Federation fears the United States might deploy intermediate-range nuclear missiles in Europe which were previously banned under the Intermediate Nuclear Forces treaty. Putin has said that should the us deploy intermediate-range nuclear missiles in Europe, Russia would have no choice but to place hypersonic nuclear missiles on submarines close to American waters.

The U.S. insisted that it has no plans to deploy missiles in Europe.

His remarks came after the Trump administration made a decision to stop complying with the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty.

"For now, we're not threatening anyone, but if such a deployment takes place, our response will be instant", Kiselyov assured his audience in an effort to appear high-minded.

"Every time Putin issues these bombastic threats and touts his new doomsday devices, he should know he only deepens NATO's resolve to work together to ensure our collective security", Eric Pahon, a Pentagon spokesman, said.

The hypersonic missiles Kiselyov referred to in his news briefing can travel at more than five times the speed of sound.

Asked to comment on Kiselyov's report, the Kremlin said on Monday it did not interfere in state TV's editorial policy.

The Daily Mail reported that Kiselyov has a track record of being anti-American, and once said that Russian Federation could turn the US into "radioactive ash".
