Stefanos Tsitsipas claims Open 13 Provence title in Marseille

Stefanos Tsitsipas claims Open 13 Provence title in Marseille”

Top seed Tsitsipas, who knocked 20-times Grand Slam victor Roger Federer out of the Australian Open last month, has yet to drop a set in the tournament and wrapped up the match in 70 minutes to set up a final with Mikhail Kukushkin of Kazakhstan.

Kukushkin survived an early break point but could do nothing when serving to stay in the first set at 6-5. "I am happy that I got through that stress and played the game that I was supposed to play", he added.

"I found rhythm in the worst possible moment", Tsitsipas told the ATP Tour's official website. "I felt comfortable on the returns and the momentum was on my side".

"It is important to win titles".

He is hopeful that he will be able to win his first ATP Tour final since his maiden title at the St Petersburg Open nine years ago.

"There is no better feeling than winning a title".

Radu Albot notched the first ATP title of his career by recording a 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7) victory over Great Britain's Daniel Evans in the championship match in Florida.

"He seems like he is doing well, so I am going to have to deal with it".

These two had played previous year in Dubai as well, with Tsitsipas winning the match in three sets, escaping the same scenario today to make the ideal recovery after the early exit in Rotterdam and continue where he left in Melbourne.

However, he would do to remember last year's matches with Kukushkin - nothing should be taken for granted.
