Bentley Continental GT Number 9 Edition by Mulliner for Geneva 2019

Bentley Continental GT Number 9 Edition by Mulliner for Geneva 2019”

Just 100 units of the Bentley Continental GT Number 9 Edition will be built to honour the Birkin Blower, each vehicle having a small piece of wood from the original car's seat displayed in its dash.

Naturally, this Mulliner-crafted racing-inspired special is based on a top-performing Continental GT W12 model-3.6 seconds to 60 miles per hour and 207 miles per hour top speed, Bentley claims.

Bentley has a pretty rich history, and a large part of that story involves the Bentley Boys of the 1920s and '30s.

The Bentley Rotating Display has also been enhanced with an artifact from Birkin's iconic 1930 Number Nine Le Mans racecar.

Birkin's auto number 9 didn't win, in fact none of the three Blowers finished, but Birkin got his way with the 4 ½ Litre and set the fastest lap during the race.

Each of the 100 units produced will feature wood inserts from the seat of Birkin's Le Mans race vehicle. They yanked the sizable crankshaft out of founder W.O. Bentley's personal 1930 8.0-liter inline-six engine and sliced it into 100 slivers for mounting in 100 special Mulsanne W.O. Editions by Mulliner. It also features 21in, coloured 10-spoke wheels and a carbon bodykit. To wrap things up each of the hundred special editions receives a period-style turned aluminium centre console, replete with a British Jaeger dash clock inspired by dials from 1930.

The interior is offered in a choice of two trim colours, with special logos on the seat headrests and door panels similar to those on the Blower. This backlit piece is set in resin and situated in the middle of the centre dial of the rotating display, adding a piece of history to each vehicle. From the very first prototype created in a London mews to the phenomenally powerful and exquisitely crafted cars driven across the world today, Bentley has transformed the face of luxury motoring.

On opening the door, a welcome light illuminates the ground with a Bentley symbol, while treadplates highlight the key years.

Power is identical to the standard Continental GT.
