CBI: Chris Watts audio recordings will be released Thursday”

The Colorado monster convicted of murdering his family told investigators in a newly released interview that his wife didn't fight back - and may have turned to prayer - as he was choking her to death.

Colorado Bureau of Investigation officials interviewed Watts, 33, in a Wisconsin prison, questioning him on the killings of his 34-year-old wife Shanann and the couple's daughters, Bella, 4, and Celeste, 3.

The Colorado Bureau of Investigation announced last week that investigators had interviewed Watts and would release a recording Thursday.

"Walking in there that day, just walking into that room, I knew I wasn't walking out", he told the agents.

Lambert said his understanding is that Chris Watts put Shanann's body in his truck and then put his children, who were alive at the time, into the truck. He's serving a life sentence without possibility of parole.

Lawyer Thomas Grant, who represents Shannan Watts' parents, Frank and Sandy Rzucek, said on the "Dr. Phil" show Tuesday that Chris Watts spoke to investigators about why he killed his wife and two daughters after finding God.

She may have started praying instead, he said. He said she accused him of having an affair, which he denied, and he eventually told her he wanted a divorce.

Fox News reports that Shanann vowed Watts would never see their daughters again. That's when Watts said he went into a rage and "snapped", putting both hands around her neck and strangling her. "I'm just like, I didn't want to do this, but I did it", he told investigators. "It was like picturing someone around you, holding your hands, holding you and keeping you from letting go".

"I was just getting the sheet off the bed and she walked in, and she had her little pink blanket with her", Watts recalled.

"Mommy don't feel good", he said he responded before dragging his wife's body down the stairs and loading it into his truck. He then put Celeste's body inside an oil tank before returning to the truck and smothering Bella using the same blanket, the documents say.

He put his wife's body in his truck and told his daughters to get into the vehicle before driving to a secluded oil field where he worked. He was sentenced to three life terms in prison for killing them.

"If I was thinking, this wouldn't have happened", he said. Watts told police "he believed Bella may have been woken up by the noise" of the killing. "Bella never touched Shanann or tried to wake her up". After shoving Bella's body in a different oil tank, he buried his wife's body in a shallow grave nearby.

While comments were made by Shanann Watts' father at sentencing that this was a final act to separate the family, Christopher Watts told agents that was not his intent, and that he felt like someone else was in control of his actions.

"You heartless monster", Rzucek continued.

Chris Watts told investigators that he keeps pictures of his wife and children in his prison cell and reads Scripture to them every night.

"I don't know if I said, 'Yes, ' like a frightful person".
