Michael Cohen Slams Trump’s Women’s Day Tweet By Bringing Up Stormy Daniels”

US President Donald Trump claims his former lawyer Michael Cohen "directly asked" him for a pardon and lied under oath when testifying before Congress last week.

"You need to know that Mr. Trump's personal lawyers reviewed, and edited, my statement to Congress about the timing of the Moscow Tower negotiations before I gave it", Mr. Cohen told the House Oversight Committee last month. "He lied! Additionally, he directly asked me for a pardon", Trump tweeted.

In his tweet, Trump, who has been seeking to discredit Cohen as he cooperates with federal prosecutors, referenced congressional testimony last week in which Cohen said he had never asked for, and would not accept, a pardon from Trump.

The Trump Organization initially honored its commitment, Cohen said, and paid US$137,460 to McDermott Will & Emery LLP in October 2017, representing half of the firm's unpaid invoices at the time, while promising that the campaign would pay the rest the following day.

In a complaint filed in a NY state court in Manhattan, Cohen said the Trump Organization refused to indemnify him after it became clear he would cooperate with investigations into his work for the organization.

Mr. Cohen testified that Mr. Trump never ordered him to lie when they met and just repeated his talking points on no-Russia-collusion.

In addition to the $1.9 million, the lawsuit also mentions another $1.9 million Cohen was forced to forfeit "as part of his criminal sentence".

"You're getting in trouble because you work for me, you're getting reimbursed", Giuliani said. He lied again! He also badly wanted to work at the White House.

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-CA) introduced legislation Thursday that would dissuade President Donald Trump from "abusing" his pardon power for his own benefit or to obstruct justice.

And the Washington Post's fact checkers have counted almost 9,000 false or misleading Trump statements just since he took office.

Cohen is set to report to prison in May for three years stemming from charges that include campaign-finance violations related to those payments.

Cohen has become a key figure in congressional investigations since turning on his former boss and co-operating with special counsel Robert Mueller.

Trump Organization spokeswoman Amanda Miller didn't immediately respond to a request for comment. During last week's public testimony, he called Trump a con man, a cheat and a racist.

Both Cohen and prosecutors in the Southern District of NY claim that Trump directed the payments.

Once Trump's trusted fixer, Cohen has had a bad break-up with the President, over the hush money payment to porn star Stormy Daniels.
