Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir to arrive in Pakistan today

Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir to arrive in Pakistan today”

Ahead of his meeting with Khan, Jubeir met Qureshi and discussed Pakistan's recent tensions with India, regional security and bilateral relations.

Adel Bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir is on a one-day official visit to Pakistan. he is touring the country on the directives of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Al-Jubeir arrived in Pakistan today, he was previously scheduled for March 1 but his visit was delayed for unknown reasons.

In the aftermath of a suicide attack on February 14 which killed more than 40 paramilitaries in the Pulwama district of Indian-administered Kashmir, New Delhi, which claims the attack was orchestrated by Pakistan-based militant outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad, conducted a failed airstrike on its western neighbor.

China on Friday declared Pakistan as its "iron brother" and said Beijing played a "constructive role" in defusing tensions between New Delhi and Islamabad.

While welcoming Saudi Arabia's steadfast support to Pakistan, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi hailed the crown prince's offer to help resolve the current stand-off between the two neighbours.

The leadership of both countries discussed the Pak-India situation and other issues in the meeting. The Indian Air Force Mirage-2000 fighter planes dropped Spice-2000 penetrative bombs on a sprawling JeM facility on the Jaba mountain top near Pakistan's Balakot on February 26.

Earlier this week, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Kong Xuanyou reiterated his country's support to Pakistan for peace and stability in the region.

He was replying to questions on the present India-Pakistan tensions following the Pulwama terror attack and how China plans to carry forward the spirit of last year's Wuhan summit between Prime Minister and President Xi. Pakistan hit back, shooting down two Indian jets, and capturing a pilot.

Pakistan had also captured Indian pilot Abhinandan alive last week who was later handed over to India as a gesture of peace - an action widely praised by the worldwide community. Apart from praising Pakistan for its perceived attempts to de-escalate the tension, China also exhorted India to refrain from worsening the situation.
