Tiger Woods shock revelation made by Ian Poulter after winning Masters title

Tiger Woods shock revelation made by Ian Poulter after winning Masters title”

Francesco Molinari led at the end of the third round at Augusta National.

Woods held a share of the lead for stretches during the final round but didn't take the outright lead until a birdie at the 15th hole.

After winning his first green jacket in 1997, Woods shared the joyous moment with his father Earl, who pulled him into a huge embrace. He lost his health to four back surgeries that left him unable to get out of bed, much less swing a club, and he went two years without even playing a major.

Speaking in Butler Cabin ahead of receiving his fifth green jacket, Woods said: It's come full circle, I had my dad there in '97 and now I have my kids here today.

Nicklaus won the Masters six times.

"Jack Nicklaus is the greatest champion - there's no doubt about that". And what a remarkable return it was for Tiger Woods.

Tiger Woods smiles as he walks off the seventh tee during the final round for the Masters golf tournament, Sunday, April 14, 2019, in Augusta, Ga.

The 43-year-old Woods started Sunday's final round joint second with fellow American Tony Finau, while Molinari was the man to catch, starting the day at 13-under 203. And that's when Woods seized control, again with plenty of help.

Woods shot a 70 on Sunday and finished at 13-under, one shot better than three others.

Harmon added: "He was humbled by his own mistakes, the things he went through he created".

Augusta officials announced Sunday morning that they've canceled the ceremony in order to get patrons and workers off the golf course before inclement weather arrives.

Patrick Cantlay found his name at the top of the leaderboard before promptly making bogeys at 16 and 17 to fall out of contention, while all the time Woods marched serenely on, his victory sure to spark debate about the greatest sporting comebacks of all time.
