Donations pour in for boy thrown from Mall of America balcony”

"Thank you again for all of your support, we are truly gracious to be surrounded by a community that reaches out to help those in need", the family friend said.

The name of the victim has not been released, and his family is asking for their privacy to be respected.

"We feel confident saying that the suspect threw the child off of the third floor", Potts told CNN. Potts said there is no relationship between the suspect and the child or the child's family, and investigators are working to determine why the man threw the boy.

Witnesses told law enforcement that they saw Emmanuel Deshawn Aranda, of Bloomington, Minn., shove or hurl the young child from the third interior level on the Bloomington Mall side to its first on Friday morning.

Bloomington Police Chief Jeff Potts said Aranda was banned from the mall at one point.

Aranda was charged with attempted homicide and is now being held at the Bloomington Police Department.

"'She was screaming 'Everyone pray, everyone pray".

Twenty-four-year-old Emmanuel Deshawn Aranda, of Minneapolis, was arrested at the mall's transit station after the attack and is jailed on a suspicion of attempted homicide charge.

Police are on the scene of an incident at the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota.

Police were called to the Mall of America in Bloomington this morning after the man, who is not thought to be of any relation, allegedly threw Landen from the balcony. 'The child has been transported to the hospital and has been receiving care'. "Oh my God, my baby, someone threw him over the edge,"' Brian Johnson told WCCO.

"We think this is a very isolated event", Potts said.

Potts said the Mall of America will often give a no-trespass order to offenders, with a time limit appropriate to the crime.

Potts said he expects to turn the case over to the Hennepin County Attorney's Office on Monday for a decision on formal charges. Aranda also held previous convictions for obstruction of the legal process/interfering with a peace officer, fifth-degree assault, trespassing and damage to property. Two misdemeanors stemmed from incidents at the mall in 2015.

Three months later, Aranda was accused of throwing glasses of water and tea at a woman in a restaurant at the mall for refusing to buy him food, according to the court records.
