Trump questions why Democrats should get Mueller report”

First came the wait for special counsel Robert Mueller to conclude his investigation on Russia's interference in the 2016 presidential election.

U.S. President Donald Trump questioned Saturday whether Congressional Democrats should have access to a redacted version of the Mueller report that cleared him of conspiring to collude with Russian Federation during the 2016 election.

According to the report, "Nunes' accusations of misconduct are aimed at a slew of former Federal Bureau of Investigation and Justice Department officials, who he alleges committed crimes in their pursuit of allegations that President Donald Trump's 2016 campaign conspired with Russians to influence the election". But given what little Democrats have seen of Mueller's findings, they want more answers on exactly how the Justice Department came to that conclusion. He also described the four types of redactions that the DOJ will make before releasing a version of the report to lawmakers: grand-jury information, information that would reveal intelligence sources and methods, information that affects the privacy of "peripheral players" not charged as a result of the investigation, and information that would compromise ongoing prosecutions. However, soon after that update from Barr, the House Judiciary Committee, along a party-line vote, authorized a subpoena for the full report and its underlying investigative evidence.

The president's latest comments come days after he called the probe an attempted "coup", while Barr promised to investigate FBI "spying" on Trump.

Rudy Giuliani, the personal attorney for President Trump, said he believes Attorney General William Barr will release the lion's share of special counsel Robert Mueller's almost 400 page report on Russian meddling during the 2016 election.

All of that suggests the controversy is likely to be far from over even when the redacted, lengthy Mueller report is released.
