Florida woman pulls gator from trousers during traffic stop”

A Charlotte County deputy was surprised during a traffic stop Monday.

A Florida woman has some explaining to do after she pulled a live alligator out of her trousers during a traffic stop, authorities said.

The couple told the deputies they had just been collecting frogs and snakes from under an overpass.

After citing the driver for the moving violation, WBBH reports deputies were making sure they didn't have any protected species when they found the alligator and turtles.

Clemons consented and all of his bags had clothes and other personal items, the deputy said. It was not immediately clear if either Clemons or Machan-Le Quire were charged.

When asked if she had anything else, deputies said she pulled a foot-long alligator out of her yoga trousers and placed it in the truck bed.

The incident is being investigated by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, according to the Sheriff's Office. The woman opened a backpack at her feet to reveal 43 small turtles, police said.

In a amusing social media post Monday, the department shared a photo of the gator in question.

The woman had been riding shotgun in a pickup truck driven by a man who blew past a stop sign in Punta Gorda at about 3:15 a.m., said an incident report from the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office.
