Mercedes dominance bad for F1 box office - Hamilton

Mercedes dominance bad for F1 box office - Hamilton”

The Finn hasn't put a foot wrong all year - and neither has Hamilton for that matter - but a third consecutive pole position has him slightly ahead of Hamilton heading into the Spanish Grand Prix.

"And, I feel, it's also bad karma if we were to think that we are now really walking on water - then, the next week, you are going to get one in the face for sure".

And, in a touching gesture by the sport's world champions, they sent a Mercedes F1 vehicle to Harry's house.

"Today I was more just super inspired by this young kid that sent me a message, Harry", Hamilton said.

"We've sent him a card and a cap, and before the race I was chilled but was looking for some inspiration, something to grab onto".

The Shaw family has set up a charity page to raise money for research into the disease and have so far raised more than £15,000.

"You try to go out there to do something for someone but it doesn't always work out as it has".

Once in the lead, Hamilton's victory never appeared in doubt. I had the laptop on my knees watching the game when we saw Liverpool beating Barcelona. They won a championship each, before the competitive nature of the two appeared to become too much and Prost agreed a move to Ferrari. He was given the honour of appearing on the podium in Spain alongside Hamilton and Bottas.

The victory helps Hamilton leapfrog Bottas into first place in the Drivers' Championship, leading his team-mate with 112 points to 105.

Ferrari's performances during preseason testing had suggested the Italian team would be competitive, but it has sputtered throughout the opening months and appears to have fallen behind Mercedes in the development race already.

There was confusion on the Ferrari pit wall as to whether they should tell a wounded Vettel to get out of team-mate Charles Leclerc's way.

Schumacher endured a slow start with Ferrari, but it was ultimately a match made in heaven.

The race was effectively decided there and then, with Hamilton pulling away unchallenged and lapping both Alfa Romeo's Antonio Giovinazzi and Williams' Robert Kubica after just 19 of the 66 laps. A safety vehicle, introduced after British teenager Lando Norris crashed out following a collision with Lance Stroll, afforded the leaders a free pit stop in the closing stages, and Verstappen to cement the final spot on the podium.
