Maryland weather: Severe storms possible Tuesday, with slight risk of tornado

An area of low pressure and trailing cold front will slide east across Northern Kansas through the day and this feature will likely spark storms for the eastern half of the state. Conditions will quiet down before the second round of severe weather this afternoon. Best dynamics for strong to severe storms are mainly north of I-70.

Rain is moving east out of Nebraska during the 8'oclock hour, with a break from showers and storms expected through the rest of the morning. Models have storms firing up once again after 2 PM, with several rounds taking us through the evening hours.

Some storms are expected to fire up Monday evening, but most of the area will remain dry.

There is a marginal to slight risk for severe weather there with wind, hail, and heavy rain possible. Damaging winds will be the most likely of threats but the chance for large hail and isolated tornadoes also exists.

The aforementioned cold front will "sweep" KAKEland of the soggy and severe weather environment that has plagued us over the past week.
