Ad Astra trailer: The answers we seek are just outside out reach

Ad Astra trailer: The answers we seek are just outside out reach”

Yup, that's the approach taken with the first trailer for James Gray's Ad Astra, and I'd say it's pretty smart. But now fans can finally get a first look at the sci-fi film thanks to its first trailer.

Ad Astra (Latin for "to the stars"), which also stars Ruth Negga, Liv Tyler, and Donald Sutherland, lifts off in theaters this fall, September 20.

This tense first look from 20th Century Fox's upcoming space adventure, directed by James Gray (The Lost City of Z) stars Pitt as astronaut Roy McBride, who "travels to the outer edges of the solar system to find his missing father", who disappeared on a top secret mission.

Back on Earth he is told: "It's insane out there, there's fires everywhere, plane crashes, they're calling it the surge". The elder McBride was researching an "a highly classified material that threaten the existence of the solar system". Roy then begins training for his new mission, which finds him engaging in gunfights on the Moon, and promising in voice-over to "destroy the project in its entirety, if necessary". This one has been in the works for a while, with release dates being pushed back - but it's now set for September.

Check out the Ad Astra trailer and poster below.

That's a reference to 'Pigs In Space', a segment of 'Muppets Tonight' - but also a reference to Brad Pitt being in space for 'Ad Astra'. It has been produced by Pitt, Gray, Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, Anthony Katagas, Rodrigo Teixeira, and Arnon Milchan.
