No criminal charges against KC Chiefs star

No criminal charges against KC Chiefs star”

Howe originally announced that the investigation was no longer active on April 24, but one day after that announcement, a leaked audio recording of Hill threatening his fiancee was released, which led to some speculation that the case might be reopened.

KCTV 5 reports the case against the Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver is now officially closed.

"It is not an active investigation", Howe said. The NFL has also begun an investigation, but league spokesman Brian McCarthy told the Star that the NFL was waiting for permission from the DCF to interview Hill.

In April, the Johnson County Attorney held a press conference and stated that his office believed a crime had been committed but there was not enough evidence to determine who to charge.

"It's my understanding the criminal investigation has been closed for quite some time now and obviously there's been some misinformation about that, but it is closed", Pettlon said to the Kansas City Star.

The NFL has not ruled on the case as commissioner Roger Goodell essentially said the league would not "interfere" with that until the child protective services involving the family has concluded, a process that could take months. Hill had been accused of abusing their child but no charges were laid. In the 11-minute audio recording reportedly made by Espinal in an airport in Dubai, she tells Hill when the boy was asked about his injured arm he replied: "Daddy did it".

Shortly after that, the Chiefs suspended Hill from all team activities and a news station reported that the case into Hill had been reopened, a line Chiefs coach Andy Reid repeated later in a news conference.
