‘Dark Phoenix’ Has Worst Opening in X-Men History

It is said to be the last chapter of X-Men series. Plus, its ending directly affects several movies that follow, particularly The Wolverine, so avoiding it entirely leaves you somewhat perplexed by some of the better installments that followed it. (Unfortunately, that Supes movie wasn't the return to relevance Warner Bros. was hoping for.) Once Brett Ratner took over the director's chair, a rushed production led to X3 losing all of the good vibes the first two films earned from fans.

The decision to reboot the story line from X-Men: The Last Standwasn't the most original way to say goodbye to this franchise, and added to the feeling of irrelevance surrounding this movie.

The X-Men: Dark Phoenix actresses explained that they noticed their co-star wasn't in the best mood one day during filming, and so they convinced the stunt team controlling him with wires to make him perform the dance to the 1993 pop hit while he was suspended in midair. And in this movie, you dont even get a cameo.

The very end of the movie includes a voiceover from Jean, now Phoenix, as she watches over Professor X from above.

After almost 20 years and a dozen X-Men movies, it's widely assumed that the mutant superhero team will be put to bed after the release of this week's Dark Phoenix.

And off they go into space to save the astronauts, but not before this someone named Sophie Turner inhales what everyone mistakenly believes is a solar flare.

Hugh Jackman as Wolverine is one of the most beloved superhero performances ever, right up there with Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man and Heath Ledger's Joker. Probably not, but that doesn't mean that there haven't been good films in this franchise; they just mostly focus on the male characters. And both of these movies take place in the ninetys. In this latest episode of the Rotten Tomatoes Aftershow, host Mark Ellis asks just that, and our special guests Maude Garrett, Scott Mantz, and Sharronda Williams tackle the question as the discuss the pros and cons - from the big action set pieces to whether it will please fans - of Dark Phoenix. Did the Disney/Fox deal have anything to do with it? Originally, Dark Phoenix was sscheduled to be released on November 2, 2018 and then it was moved to February 14th, and then finally it moved its release date to June 7th.

It's always best to go into these movies with low expectations and then come out pleasantly surprised. And I'm glad that happened for me. This movie gets pretty violent at times, and even though it is rated PG-13, I don't know if I would bring the whole family to this one. Because of his seizures, he occasionally becomes an accidental weapon of mass destruction himself, a fact that we learn caused him to do something bad to numerous other X-Men.

"The movie is about Jean evolving from this character into something else, and that's what Sophie did". OK Marvel, let's see what you can do!
