Man dies after drinking minibar scotch at Dominican Republic resort, family says”

The Turlock man is one of four Americans who have mysteriously died while vacationing in the Dominican Republic in the past few months.

The American victims include Robert Wallace, who was sickened in April after drinking a scotch from a minibar at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, according to his niece.

Bob Wallace had been in the island country for a family wedding, but by the time of the actual festivities, the adventure-loving 67-year-old man was hospitalized and too sick to participate. No cause of death has yet been released to the family, which says Wallace was in good health before his death.

A Pennsylvania woman died at the same hotel as Holmes and Day on May 25 after having a drink from her room's minibar. "We reiterate our firm commitment to cooperate fully with the authorities and we expect a quick resolution of your consultations and actions, and we will not make any other statements that could interfere with them".

'Out of respect for the family during this hard time, we do not have additional information to provide'. They were there to attend his stepson's wedding.

Her sister, Felecia Nieves, told Fox 29 that Monique "was 51 years of age, relatively healthy, no reason for her to go on vacation and die so suddenly". Dominican authorities told her that it was an accident, saying that he had a heart attack and fell.

"My husband's story needs to be told ... something's not right in the Dominican Republic", she continued. 'We don't want this to happen to anyone else'.

At the same hotel last July another American tourist, 45-year-old David Harrison, of Maryland, died under similar circumstances.

"We have so many questions", Arnold told Fox.

With regard to the two unfortunate events that took place in the Dominican Republic, and after various media, digital platforms and social networks disseminated, reposted or distributed false information, Bahia Príncipe Hotels & Resorts wishes to express its profound respect to the authorities and investigations in progress. Both reportedly died of heart attacks.

The U.S. State Department confirmed Sport's death to Fox News, saying in an email: "Ms. Sport passed away at a different Bahia Principe hotel in Punta Cana, approximately 50 miles from the Nueva Romana hotels".

It is not clear if a second autopsy will be performed on Day and Holmes.

The deaths made headlines and first put the spotlight on what now appears to be a yearlong pattern.

Meanwhile, Colorado couple Kaylynn Knull and Tom Schwander told CNN that they suffered from headaches, abdominal cramps and diarrhea after encountering a strong smell of chemicals in the La Romana hotel in June 2018.
