Tyson recalls more than 190,000 chicken fritters

Tyson recalls more than 190,000 chicken fritters”

The move comes a month after Tyson expanded a separate recall of almost 12 million pounds chicken strips over concerns they may contain pieces of metal.

Tyson Foods, Inc., has recalled more than 190,000 pounds of Tyson Fully Cooked, Whole Grain Golden Crispy Chicken Chunk Fritters that may be contaminated with hard plastic, the company said in a statement.

The products subject to recall bear establishment number "P-1325" inside the USDA mark of inspection.

Last Friday, the agency announced in a press release that Tyson Foods would recall approximately 190,757 pounds of the item after the company received three complaints from schools of "foreign material in the breaded chicken fritter product".

The chicken fritter products were produced on February 28, come in 8.2-pound bags and carry the case code 0599NHL02.

Tyson Foods, Inc. distributed the product to institutions, including schools.

Almost 200,000 pounds of chicken products sold in schools nationwide have been recalled amid concerns of plastic in the food.

No confirmed injuries or other adverse consequences had been reported in relation to the implicated chicken nuggets as of the posting of the recall notice by the USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).

Food service locations with the product are asked to throw it away or return it to the place of purchase.

Consumers with questions about the recall can contact Tyson Foods consumer relations staff at 888-747-7611.
