Woman who asked for Mariah Carey cake got Marie Curie instead”

Call it a case of mis-cake-n identity. Curie, she notes, is "looking very festive".

Twitter user Harriet Alida Lye took to her social media page to post the hilarious image of a cake her cousin in the United Kingdom got when she told colleagues she wanted a Mariah Carey cake for her birthday.

See, the baker made a Marie Curie cake instead.

Marie Curie won two Nobel Prizes in 1903 and 1911 for her research on radioactivity.

In a tweet, author Harriet Alida Lye explained that her cousin, Siobhan, told her colleagues in England she wanted a cake with singer Mariah Carey's face on it - a perfectly reasonable request for one's birthday.

It was widely reported in the global press on Sunday and Monday, shared by thousands, and even came to the attention of the American songstress, who responded on social media, saying: "This could've been me if only I hadn't failed remedial math - happy birthday Siobhan".

We gotta say, Carey should be quite honored to be mistaken for the first woman to win a Noble (and still the only woman to do it twice).

The woman behind the now-famous cake expressed her shock at how news of her comedic blunder had spread in a post to the HOPE for Chronic Conditions Facebook page. And Siobhan took it in good spirits.

Lye's tweet was shared more than 44,000 times and liked more than 207,000 times since Friday, even eliciting a response from the "Hero" singer herself.
