Arsenal 'agree' to sign St Etienne's William Saliba”

A five-year deal is said to have been agreed and the London club will now attempt to thrash out terms with Saint Etienne to finalise the transfer.

The French news outlet have suggested that Arsenal are in advanced talks to sign Saliba and could make it happen in the coming weeks.

Unai Emery is desperate to bolster his backline this summer, with Sampdoria ace Joachim Andersen also heavily linked with a move to Arsenal.

Saint-Etienne are keen to take Saliba back on loan for the season if they do agree to sell. And amid reports that Koscielny is subject of interest from Borussia Dortmund, Arsenal need a new centre-back in the summer.

So is the William Saliba transfer done?

To that end, Arsenal have identified Saliba as someone who could help tighten things up at the back.

And the report also says that Arsenal must act fast to negotiate with the Ligue 1 club in order to get the deal over the line because there is plenty of interest in his services at home and overseas. That could prove to be a bone of contention in the negotiations, with Arsenal unlikely to agree to such a condition, given that they will be splashing out a major chunk of their limited transfer budget to sign him.

Arsenal have been keeping tabs on his development and it is believed that a £25million price tag was slapped on the 18-year-old.

Now L'Equipe have joined the claims, and they say Arsenal reached an agreement with the player on Sunday.
