Kawhi Leonard and Raptors presented key to Toronto by Mayor John Tory”

At the Toronto Raptors' championship parade on Monday, Leonard took the microphone to speak to the crowd of thousands of fans that had gathered to celebrate with the team.

Toronto Police confirmed an incident, tweeting: "SHOOTING: Nathan Phillip's Square, Reports of woman shot, People running from area, Police/EMS are on scene, Unknown what the injuries are".

Kawhi Leonard closed his speech in epic fashion at the Toronto Raptors' championship parade. Three people were arrested in connection with the shooting, and two firearms have been recovered, police spokesman David Hopkinson told CBS News. It was that kind of vibe, " D'Souza said. "I want to commend and thank the millions of other people who happily and peacefully celebrated our beloved Toronto Raptors", he added.

Toronto's mayor, John Tory, previously urged every resident celebrate the Raptors' championship and declared Monday "We The North Day" in Toronto, after the franchise's slogan.

Fifteen-year-old Cypher Sabanal said his mother let him skip class to attend the celebration.

The event could draw more than one million people to downtown streets to revel in the team's first National Basketball Association title.

The ceremony was paused for a while mentioning that there was an emergency situation but was resumed shortly afterwards. "I tell you, if they're Raptors fans, they're going to work twice as hard when they get back to the office", he said.

Meanwhile, GO Transit said it was setting up a designated spot at transit hub Union Station's lost and found for any children who may get separated from their group or family.

Many others chose to miss school or work.

As the parade inched forward - discernibly behind schedule - a number of Raptors could not help but marvel at the fan response.

The last time Toronto held a sports celebration of this magnitude was after the Blue Jays won the World Series in 1993. "I can't just give you a whole spiel". Raptors' dancers, security guards and the organizers were seen handing out water to the fans, who continued to throng streets leading up to the square.

The Clippers' strong position on the NBA championship odds come amid expectations of a big free agent splash this summer, while serious injuries suffered by Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson during the NBA Finals have contributed to the Warriors' tumble from their familiar perch atop those futures.

Star guard Kyle Lowry, the team's longest-serving member, was seen hoisting the Larry O'Brien Trophy while his teammates smoked cigars. "This is unbelievable", he said.
