Phoenix officer pulled gun after child took doll from store”

The video shows an unidentified officer cursing and threatening to shoot a pregnant mother after her 4-year-old daughter took a Barbie doll out of a local Family Dollar store.

Earlier this week, a video of Phoenix, Arizona police officers drawing their guns in excessive fashion, quickly went viral, casting light on a civil suit filed against the city's police department in the upwards of $10 million.

Jay-Z is stepping in to help the Phoenix couple that was aggressively arrested by police when their daughter mistakenly walked outside a Dollar Store with a doll. They also threatened to shoot them.

In one video, an officer can be heard yelling at Ames to get his hands up. "He had a gun drawn". The mayor promised to have every Phoenix police precinct equipped with body cameras by August. "As a mother myself, seeing these children placed in such a terrifying situation is beyond upsetting".

The incident took place on May 29, the family said.

While threatening Ames, one of the officers had said, "I'm going to put a cap in your a-".

The claim went on to state that the police officer pushed Ames against the vehicle, forced him to spread his legs and even went on to kick him hard on the back of the right knee.

An officer is accused of throwing Ames against a vehicle, kicking his leg so hard that Ames collapsed and punching him for no reason.

Dravon Ames, 22, and Aisha Harper, 24, filed a notice claim on Thursday which accused officers of battery, false arrest, unlawful imprisonment and causing emotional distress.

Harper was holding her one-year-old child during the fracas and also told the officers that she was pregnant.

"I really thought he was gonna shoot me in front of the kids", she told CNN after the incident.

During the video, officers can be heard telling her to get her hands up.

When they stopped outside the building, the cops auto also pulled up alongside them, the police officers got out with their weapons and forcefully opened the door on Ames' side and pulled him out.

Authorities said the incident is under investigation.

It was a disturbing video of a family being stopped by Phoenix Police that caught the attention of the nation.

It is not clear who recorded the video or what transpired beforehand.

Speaking to KPNX-TV, she said: "What we saw in that video isn't in keeping with good policing, it's unacceptable".

Thompson said they can not provide additional information due to pending litigation. Ames claims that not long after they pulled into the lot of the complex, an officer came over to their vehicle window, yelling and threatening to kill them.

Thompson also told the affiliate there was more to it than the claim of the stolen doll, but would not expound on it.

After putting the Black family through this harrowing experience, the police simply returned the "stolen" item to the store.

Police say the incident happened May 27.

A community meeting will be held this week to talk about the incident.

Police Chief Jeri Williams said in a Facebook post that she was "disturbed by the language and the actions" of the officers.

"This is not who we are, and I refuse to allow this type of behaviour to go unchallenged".
