Apple recalls 15-inch Macbook Pros over battery fire risk

Apple recalls 15-inch Macbook Pros over battery fire risk”

No other 15-inch MacBook Pros or other devices are affected.

Apple has recalled a number of its older generation MacBook Pro because their batteries may overheat and "pose a fire safety risk".

Apple could be preparing to release a new MacBook Air 2019 and 13-inch MacBook Pro 2019 alongside its upcoming macOS 10.15 Catalina software later this year.

Either way, if this report is true, then Apple will be launching the 16-inch MacBook Pro alongside its new iPhones at the September Apple event.

While Ming-Chi Kuo recently claimed that the "all-new" laptop will unlikely show up until 2020 or 2021, IHS Market analyst Jeff Lin expects the 16in MacBook to be unveiled in September alongside the iPhone 11.

Apple CEO Tim Cook (R) previews a MacBook Pro during a product launch event at Apple headquarters in Cupertino, California on October 27, 2016. That might change later this year, according to IHS Markit, which said over the weekend that the company is planning to announce a MacBook Pro with a 16-inch display in September.

Apple now sells a 13-inch and a 15-inch MacBook Pro, with the larger model having a 2,880x1,800 pixel screen. In 2012 he correctly predicted a 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display, and IHS in recent years were proven right when it said the unnamed iPhone X would feature a flat OLED screen and 2017's 10.5-inch iPad Pro would rock a 2,224x1,668-pixel display.

Apple also advises users to back up their MacBook Pro's data prior to submitting their devices for servicing, which may take one to two weeks.
