Metal hip Murray hails 'special' doubles title

Metal hip Murray hails 'special' doubles title”

"I felt very relaxed at the beginning of the week and was getting more nervous as the week went on, [but] my competitive instincts kicked in".

Andy Murray has hailed his Queen's triumph alongside partner Feliciano Lopez as "mental". The past couple of years have been an emotional time for me, and when it came to the Australian Open I decided I had had enough and was able to speak out about it.

"Like, I just won the doubles here with Feli, you know, with a metal hip".

"My hip felt great, no pain", the three-time Grand Slam victor announced to the delight of the London faithful. Ashleigh Barty, the new French Open champion, has already turned him down, reluctantly, saying she was honoured to be asked but did not want to risk overload as she strove for another singles title.

"It happens maybe once in a lifetime, with how hard it is to win the singles, I can not believe I won both", he told BBC Sport. "I've seen some highlights on social media and I have seen how excited he is to be back on court which is brilliant to see".

"It's a huge honour for me to share the court with him", Herbert told AFP after losing to Roger Federer in the singles semi-final of the ATP event in Halle Saturday. I just assume that is because they are focusing on different things.

The Spaniard produced a Herculean effort, winning the singles in three sets earlier in the day before playing sublimely in the doubles.

'Two options, play doubles through US Summer and practise singles with the guys, or I take a longer break after Wimbledon and get myself ready for singles and try to play close to the US Open, ' he said. But I don't care either way.

"Today's match was bad because Roger was just much better than me. But I have played well and I will fly to Great Britain with a good feeling".
