American tourist killed by sharks while snorkeling in Bahamas”

Jordan Lindsey, of Torrance, was snorkeling near Rose Island at around 2 p.m. when at least three sharks attacked her, said the Bahamas Police Force.

Some family members tried to yell and warn her about the sharks, but she didn't hear them.

According to NBC 4, Lindsey had her right arm torn off and suffered bites to both legs and her buttocks.

The New York Post reported that Jordan's mother was in the water nearby and pulled her daughter to shore following the attack. She was immediately sent to the hospital after the shark attack took place but it was too late and the doctors pronounced her dead. "Jordan had the most lovely, gentle soul and she'll be missed deeply". "She was so caring, she loved all animals. She loved animals. It's ironic she would die getting attacked by a shark".

Following an autopsy, Lindsey's body will be transported to California by the U.S. Embassy, Rolle told WPLG.

Tragic Jordan Lindsey, 21, from California, was snorkelling with Rose Island's swimming pigs when she was cornered by the trio of tiger sharks.

A Torrance woman was killed in a shark attack in the Bahamas on Wednesday, according to television news reports.

Her family have set-up a GoFundMe page to cover costs of her funeral and to pay to bring her body back to California.

Jordan's dad Michael told ABC News she was a "great daughter and person".

Her parents have set up a GoFundMe page for Jordan, to help with expenses. "Thank you", the family wrote. Investigators said they believe that three sharks were involved in the attack, which was deemed an "extremely rare" and "deeply tragic event" by expert Dr. Austin Gallagher, chief scientist and CEO of Beneath the Waves, a nonprofit organization that conducts research on sharks in the Bahamas. He said the school will honor Lindsey with a plaque featuring her name at a student memorial. "We already miss her terribly".

The Ministry of Tourism and Aviation of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas on Wednesday expressed its "deepest sympathies" in the wake of the tragedy.
