Barcelona want Manchester United defender Lindelof, claims player's agent”

Manchester United's French midfielder Paul Pogba (C) celebrates with Manchester United's Swedish defender Victor Lindelof (R) and Manchester United's Ivorian defender Eric Bailly (L) on the pitch after the English Premier League football match between Leicester City and Manchester United at King Power Stadium in Leicester, central England on February 3, 2019.

The Catalan giants had hoped to bring in the Ajax captain before being beaten to the punch by Juventus, who are closing in on a deal for the 19-year-old.

United are said to be among Umtiti's suitors but it remains to be seen whether Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would be willing to lose Sweden global Lindelof.

Last season, he played 30 league games as he impressed Solskjaer and fans alike.

On June 26th, we carried a report from Mundo Deportivo, who claimed Ernesto Valverde's side "want" the Sweden worldwide and have already contacted the Red Devils several times.

"Lindelof is in the orbit of a great European club but leaving United depends on the English club", Cetinkaya was quoted as saying by Telegraph, in a recent interview with Mundo Deportivo.

Despite Lindelof being on Barcelona's transfer wish list, a departure seems unlikely.

United remain in the market for another defender after snapping up Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace. The Red Devils are now in the market for Leicester City's Harry Maguire, but even if they land the England global they wouldn't let go of Lindelof, who is a regular and will continue to be so due to Eric Bailly's injuries and the frailties of Phil Jones and Chris Smalling.

Cross-town rivals Manchester City are also in the hunt to sign the England global.
