Handscomb Will 'Definitely Play' Against England: Langer

Handscomb Will 'Definitely Play' Against England: Langer”

Stoinis on Tuesday bowled for more 30 minutes and batted for more than an hour without issue.

"Both Khawaja and Stoinis are set to undergo scans today before their future in the World Cup is determined, with both players still officially a part of Australia's 15-man Cup squad at this stage".

Peter Handscomb believes Justin Langer's decision to have Australia's players walk around the Edgbaston outfield barefoot has helped bond the squad.

Handscomb is certain to replace No.3 Usman Khawaja (hamstring) in a reshuffled batting order, but the potential bombshell is Maxwell's omission for Wade. While the former has been plundering runs for around an year in domestic cricket and now for Australia A, Marsh has had good success at the global level before.

Last week, Handscomb was approved by the Event Technical Committee of the 2019 ICC World Cup as the replacement for injured Shaun Marsh in the Australian squad for the remainder of the ongoing cricket's showpiece event.

"He looks good", said Langer after training. "I don't know what you call it, we just took our shoes and socks off and walked a lap of the oval". Haydos and I used to do it, just as a bit of a ritual before every Test match.

"I think when we didn't have him in the side we were quite thin with the ball", Finch said.

England have dominated one-day cricket for the past four years, spending more than a year as the world's No.1 ranked team headed into the tournament.

"He's a real seasoned pro and he's had an unbelievable 12 months or so in domestic cricket". We went through a major crisis in our cricket.

"With his experience, if he plays, then we're confident he'll do a really good job".

"You get more relaxed as you start playing better as an individual or as a team. But only on the back of playing good cricket and working hard for that". There is no doubt that Australia would have preferred a semi-final against New Zealand, leaving title rivals England and India to battle it out for a final spot, but they must now take on the hosts at one of their favourite venues.

"And they've obviously got a good game plan and a lot of very talented cricketers".

"Regardless of what happens on Thursday - and I'm sure Trevor Bayliss and Eoin (Morgan) are saying the same thing - regardless of what happens Thursday they would very proud of what's happened in the past four years".
