National Football League lineman Malik McDowell fights policeman after getting tased”

Recently released surveillance footage shows the moment that Malik McDowell, a former defensive lineman for the National Football League's Seattle Seahawks, violently wrestled with a MI law enforcement officer after being struck by a stun gun during a February 2019 altercation.

Eventually the frustrated officer announced that McDowell was under arrest, but the former second-round pick resisted and walked into the gas station as the cop unsuccessfully attempted to thwart his progress. However, the video shows McDowell pulling prongs from his chest and getting to his feet and lunging at the officer's Taser as it was still firing.

McDowell can be heard continuing to refuse the officer's request before eventually getting into the rear seat of the vehicle. After McDowell refuses the officer's orders to get on his stomach on the ground, the officer followed through on his threat.

Outside of the club, McDowell got into a shouting match with police.

After several warnings, the officer responded by shooting his taser at McDowell, who was unaffected and simply ripped out the probes.

McDowell was eventually charged with two counts of felony assaulting and resisting, one misdemeanor count of operating while intoxicated and misdemeanor driving on a suspended license, and is due back in court later this month.

A police report obtained by TMZ stated that officers were issued a warrant to take a blood sample from McDowell although the results of that test were not included.

One of the officers claimed in the police report that McDowell "grabbed for my gun as I was trying to grab his arm".

McDowell then left his vehicle against the officer's orders and entered the convenience store, resisting the smaller officer's efforts to subdue him. When the officer tried to Tase him, he missed, according to the police report.

The two appear to struggle at which point the officer warns McDowell that he will Taser him if he continues to refuse arrest.

McDowell was a second-round pick of the Seahawks in 2017, but never played a snap for Seattle after suffering serious injuries in the ATV accident prior to the start of training camp before his rookie season.

In June, McDowell was arraigned for an April incident in which he is charged with receiving a stolen pickup truck with $74,000.

According to the report, McDowell told police that he bought the vehicle off a random man on the street for $5,000.
