Warriors waiving Shaun Livingston

Warriors waiving Shaun Livingston”

The Golden State Warriors are waiving veteran point guard Shaun Livingston, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.

Originally, the Warriors had to make a decision on Livingston's contract by June 30, but the two sides reportedly agreed to push the date back to July 10.

Livingston reinvented himself as the consummate team-first player who could run the offense and post up smaller guards. Golden State is hard capped due to the D'Angelo Russell sign-and-trade deal with the Nets.

The 33-year-old is determined to continue playing, Wojnarowski adds.

The former fourth overall selection in the 2004 NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Clippers has played the last five seasons with the Warriors.

The 2004 fourth overall pick by the Los Angeles Clippers won three National Basketball Association championships with the Warriors, including five straight Finals appearances.

ESPN's Bobby Marks said the move, as well as stretching out Livingston's guaranteed salary, will save the Warriors over $1 million, which will help them stay under the tax apron. He averaged 4.0 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.8 assists during the 2018-19 campaign in 15.1 minutes per game.
