'Big 3' Basketball League Removes Four Former NBA Stars For Poor Play

'Big 3' Basketball League Removes Four Former NBA Stars For Poor Play”

The BIG3 has deactivated several prominent former National Basketball Association players, including Lamar Odom and Baron Davis, the league announced in a statement on Wednesday.

As we previously reported, 39-year-old Odom was axed by the league on Wednesday - essentially ending his dream of returning to pro ball.

The BIG3 "deactivated" Odom on Wednesday as part of an extensive on- and off-court shakeup within the 3-on-3 league. Cube replied, "Always, I love the guy". The BIG3 was the latest basketball comeback attempt for the 39-year-old Odom, who almost died in 2015 as a result of a drug overdose in Las Vegas.

Lamar Odom's attempt to reboot his basketball career lasted one game. But after struggling in his first game, Odom said in a televised interview that "once I got my rhythm back, it should be no problem".

Per those with knowledge of the situation, Odom, Jermaine O'Neal, Bonzi Wells and Baron Davis were all deactivated for competitive reasons and not due to any off-the-court issues.

The BIG3 league was launched in 2017 by actor Ice Cube and media executive Jeff Kwatinetz. While it was assumed that all of the aforementioned players were dealing with injuries, that isn't actually the case.

The four deactivated players had played a combined 55 seasons in the NBA, winning two championships while posting eight All-Star selections to go along with four All-NBA nods.

Last year, Odom announced that he would play in this year's edition of the Big3.
