Koscielny refuses to travel with Arsenal on U.S. tour

Koscielny refuses to travel with Arsenal on U.S. tour”

'We are very disappointed by Laurent's actions, which are against our clear instructions, ' a club statement read.

Arsenal captain Laurent Koscielny has refused to go with the rest of the squad to US for their pre-season tour and the club has made this public via a statement released on the club's official website.

Koscielny has asked Arsenal to terminate his contract for a number of weeks but a deal for him to return to France is yet to be agreed.

"All the Arsenal fans are getting in touch with us telling us they wanted to sign a centre-back to play alongside Laurent Koscielny, not replace Laurent Koscielny".

Lyon, Bordeaux, and Rennes are a few of the teams interested in the 33-year-old.

Koscielny will surely face disciplinary action from the club, and we certainly haven't seen the end of this story just yet.

This decision from Koscielny will no doubt have a huge impact on the locker room. The Frenchman, who is now captain of the North London club, came to them from Lorient in Ligue 1 as a raw defender lacking in physical attributes, but over the years, turned into one of the most coveted centre-backs in the Premier League.

Arsenal should probably cut their losses here and let Koscielny leave on a free, as overall he's been a good servant to the club and they are unlikely to receive that much for him in terms of a transfer fee.

Toloui says the Gunners were looking at bringing in a new player to slot in beside club captain Koscielny.

Arsenal themselves were willing to hand the defender that extension, but because of his injury record, were going to pay Koscielny less per week but include appearance and performance-related bonuses. Then again, you can not let one player dictate your transfer dealings as they sets a poor precedent.
