Serena Williams Loses Wimbeldon to Simona Halep”

Upon winning, Halep collapsed to her knees on Centre Court.

Wimbledon 2019 Women's Singles Final Tennis Live Score, Serena Williams vs Simona Halep Tennis Live Updates: Serena Williams no longer wants to obsess about elusive Grand Slam "number 24" and Simona Halep is desperate to win Wimbledon more than to stop the American reaching that milestone but there will be no place for either to hide in Saturday's final.

Halep was not concerned with preventing Williams from winning a 24th Grand Slam title. Also, playing on the Centre Court or reaching the finals of Wimbledon are considered to be an ultimate achievement in a tennis player's career, but tennis world demands something more than that, and its always a privilege etch your name on Wimbledon's victor board. And she played pretty much perfectly. She was shaky in the opening rounds here but seemed to have played her way into top form, delivering an emphatic performance in dismantling Barbora Strycova in the semifinal.

"I was trying to tap into those emotions", said Williams. "No matter what I do, I will always have a great career". She remained rock solid throughout and Williams simply could not respond.

"Well, I had nerves".

"I said at the start of the tournament that one of my motivations was to win and become a lifetime member of the club". "I know I'm improving and I just needed to feel good and then I can do what I do best which is play tennis".

Couldn't have been any better, really.

She revealed she had recalled prior to her semi-final how she felt when she won her first Wimbledon title beating elder sister Venus 7-6 (7/4), 6-3 in 2002. What stings even more. had she won she would have tied Margaret Court's all-time record which was set back in 1968.

Since returning to tennis, Williams has dealt with injuries but still managed to remain among the game's elite. But now she's on the doorstep of an eighth Wimbledon singles title.

History isn't on Halep's side - she has a 1-9 record against Williams - but the fact that she's playing better on grass than ever before in her career should bolster her self-belief.

Halep tracked down everything, as is her wont.

Halep will also take heart from their battle at this year's Australian Open being a close one and the fact that she has more than just an A-game in her repertoire. I just kind of let it go this morning. It's not just me, it's Roger [Federer], Tom Brady, Peyton [Manning] played forever. Or put a palm up and look at her guest box, as if thinking, "What can I do?" Williams' greatest show of emotion came after she stretched for a forehand volley victor on the second set's second point.

Odds on both players are pretty weird but clearly, Williams is the favourite.

Halep only had been as far as the semifinals once at Wimbledon until now. "I have learned that I have the chance".
