Mississippi Walmart shooting suspect down after gunfire erupts inside store, cops say”

Two employees were killed Tuesday when a gunman opened fire at a Walmart store in Southaven near Memphis, local officials and witnesses say.

The disgruntled employee had been suspended Monday for pulling a knife on a customer and returned early Tuesday with a gun, according to WREG, with other reports saying he had worked there 25 years. For customers and bystanders, the shooting turned a sleepy early morning into a panic at the Walmart Supercenter in Southaven, a suburb of Memphis, Tennessee. The officer was taken to Baptist Hospital Desoto and is expected to be okay after the bullet hit his vest.

The two people who were killed were Walmart employees.

The Memphis Commercial Appeal reports that the Southhaven Police Department were called to the scene at 6:32 a.m. after receiving a call regarding a shooting inside of the store.

The store is located near I-55 and Goodman Road, a busy section of Southaven.
