Puig, still with Reds, ejected as part of big brawl

Puig, still with Reds, ejected as part of big brawl”

First off, what was Yasiel Puig doing still in the Cincinnati Reds' game Tuesday night just after reports began circulating that the 6-foot-2, 240-pound slugging outfielder had had been traded to the Cleveland Indians? Taylor Trammell will go to the Padres.

"I'm going to miss all my teammates here", Puig said after the Reds loss and learning the trade news. "I was just doing my part". Now it's time to move forward and go to my new team and help my team go to the playoffs. That, or we're going to continue to see ballplayers behaving poorly every few weeks.

Puig ended his season with Cincinnati in another brawl.

The ejections started in the eighth, when Bell was tossed for arguing a strike call with Puig at bat.

Then before the fight, Jared Hughes was ejected for hitting Starling Marte, as was Freddie Benavides.

Amir Garrett was clearly frustrated with the Pirates.

Bell was among the first Reds to join the fray and had to be separated from Pirates manager Clint Hurdle, who was celebrating his 62nd birthday. Pirates hitting coach Rick Eckstein got Bell in a headlock.

Meanwhile, the Reds are 1-4 in Castillo's last five Wednesday starts and 7-19 in their last 26 Wednesday games.

Earlier the Reds were upset about a Keone Kela pitch went high and in, almost hitting Derek Dietrich.

Bell was ejected from the game as was Yasiel Puig, Garrett and possibly Trevor Williams, who may have been the one yelling at Garrett from the dugout.

Puig received a standing ovation from the home crowd as he walked off the field after the brawl.

Cleveland reportedly acquired Puig, while Cincinnati got Indians pitcher Trevor Bauer, who had placed himself in the club's doghouse by hurling a baseball over the center-field fence after being removed from his most recent appearance.

In 14 career games at Great American, Dickerson is batting.431 with nine homers and 18 RBIs. He's eligible for free agency after the 2019 season.
