Survey says food delivery drivers have probably tasted your order

Survey says food delivery drivers have probably tasted your order”

Next time you open a bag of food from a delivery service and find your fries scattered at the bottom of the bag, the loose potatoes might not be a sign of bumps on the road.

The survey conducted by US Foods, which supplies food to restaurants, gathered information from about 500 food delivery drivers and more than 1,500 customers in America who order through apps such as DoorDash, Postmates, Grubhub and UberEats.

According to the survey, 28% of delivery drivers have taken food from an order.

In the survey, delivery drivers also complained that customers engaged in some bad behavior.

The study showed Uber Eats is the most popular delivery app, and on average, 40 minutes is the longest we'll accept for estimated delivery.

"Of the almost 500 deliverers we surveyed, topping the list is weak tips, food not being ready at the restaurant, and lack of communication with customers", researchers said.

While more people are using food delivery apps, there's a limit to how much some will spend on the services.

Among food deliverers, the top complaint, 60%, is a small or no tip at all from customers, followed by food not being ready for pickup at the restaurant at 52%. 85 percent of the customers said that they wished that restaurants would use tamper-evident packaging to address the issue, so that they would be able to see if their driver had sampled their wares before it reached their door.

When asked how upset they would be about a driver grabbing a few fries, customers reported they'd rate their dissatisfaction at 8.4 on a scale of 1 being "no big deal" and 10 as "absolutely unacceptable".

Your delivery driver may be helping eat the meal you just paid for. Until now, we have been blissfully unaware of the fact that a stranger may have been nibbling at our food, but U.S. Foods has exposed the cold hard truth in its latest survey, the New York Post noted. However, the tip amount can change based on delivery and service fees.
