Iran conditions talks with United States for lift of sanctions”

France has dismissed claims that President Emmanuel Macron had invited Iranian President Hassan Rouhani to the G7 summit scheduled to be held later this month in the southwestern French town of Biarritz.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said Tuesday the Middle Eastern nation will not negotiate on any terms with the United States until first economic sanctions are removed.

Rouhani lashed out at the US unilateral withdrawal from 2015 worldwide Iranian nuclear deal and reinstating of its economic sanctions against Iran, which had been lifted under the deal.

Rouhani said the United States is exerting maximum pressure to spur a revolt that will overthrow the Iranian regime.

He urged the USA to lift all its sanctions and accused it of committing "economic terrorism" by blocking food and medicine imports.

The president further questioned the USA government's sincerity in its repeated offers of talks to Tehran, which have come in parallel with the "maximum pressure" campaign underway against the Iranian nation.

But "unfortunately, simultaneous with Iran and France s attempts to reduce tensions and create favourable conditions for peaceful coexistence in the region, we witness escalatory moves from the US", Rouhani told Macron.

The US sanctions imposed on Zarif last week would block any property or interests he has in the United States, but the foreign minister said he had none. He must talk to you'. "We can't talk to a criminal". He posted on Twitter on Monday that he believed the USA was not interested in talks with Teheran and instead wanted Iran's submission.

Last week, the USA government announced that it had boycotted Javad Zarif along with a number of other Iranian government officials.

Fears of a direct US-Iranian conflict have risen since May with several suspected attacks on oil tankers in the Gulf, Iran's downing of a US surveillance drone, and a plan for US air raids on Iran in June that Trump called off at the last minute.

"Sanctioning a foreign minister means failure in talks", Rouhani added.

"They thought Iran s system is weakened", he said.

"They said, 'One more push".

In his earlier televised remarks, Rouhani urged the U.S. to be ready to negotiate fairly.

"This issue (sanctions on Zarif) shows well that the U.S. regime loathes diplomacy, which is one of the greatest achievements (of humanity) to protect peace and security among nations", he added. 'You can not say that you won't allow our oil to be exported. Its central location in Eurasia and Western Asia, and its proximity to the Strait of Hormuz, give it geostrategic importance.

Weeks later, Iran s Revolutionary Guards impounded a British-flagged tanker in the Strait of Hormuz - the conduit for much of the world s crude.

Rouhani's visit to the Foreign Ministry comes days after Trump's administration imposed sanctions on Zarif for what Tehran views as Washington's fear of the top diplomat's eloquent delivery of the Iranian nation's message to the world.

Separately on Tuesday, Iran's military unveiled three precision-guided missiles, with Defence Minister brigadier-general Amir Hatami saying they showed the country was ready to defend itself in the face of USA "viciousness and conspiracies".
