Sex accused Epstein 'misappropriated vast sums' from Victoria's Secret mogul”

The billionaire behind the Victoria's Secret lingerie chain has said that financierand accused child abuser Jeffrey Epstein "misappropriated" more than $46m of his personal fortune, according to a report. OH billionaire Leslie Wexner said in a letter Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2019 that he recovered "some of the funds" but severed ties with Epstein in 2007 as sexual abuse allegations first surfaced against him in Florida.

Wexner indicated that some misappropriated money had been repaid, and tax documents indicate that the repayments were $46 million, according to the Wall Street Journal, which first reported the letter.

"This was, frankly, a tremendous shock, even though it clearly pales in comparison to the unthinkable allegations against him now", Wexner wrote.

On July 16, Wexner made his first comments on Epstein in an internal memo to L Brands employees in which the chairman explained he was "NEVER aware" of Epstein's illegal activity and that his sympathy goes out to the victims.

Add wrongly taking almost $50 million from billionaire Leslie Wexner to the growing list of allegations facing sex offender, and recently arrested, financier Jeffrey Epstein.

By most accounts, the answer lies partly in Epstein's relationship with Wexner, and the letter lays out Wexner's account of how the two became entangled as friends and business associates. In the letter, Wexner also noted that the amount was only a portion of the funds that Epstein had allegedly misappropriated. But L Brands has hired an outside law firm to look into possible ties between Epstein and L Brands.

In their years working together, Epstein obtained a NY mansion, a private plane, and a luxury estate in Ohio-which were previously owned by Wexner or his companies.

Wexner, who founded Columbus, Ohio-based L Brands in 1963 and remains CEO of the publicly traded company, had previously said he cut ties to Epstein 12 years ago and that he now regrets the relationship.

Epstein is facing charges of sex trafficking involving dozens of underage girls.

"I am embarrassed that, like so many others, I was deceived by Mr. Epstein", Wexner wrote.

A tentative trial date for the high-profile case was set for June 2020 at the earliest, by U.S. District Judge Richard Berman during a brief court hearing in a Manhattan federal court. In making the announcement, DeSantis said, "Floridians expect and deserve a full and fair investigation".

Acosta was the U.S. attorney in Miami when he oversaw a non-prosecution agreement for Epstein in 2008.
