Possible Snapdragon 865 Flagship SoC Appears On Geekbench”

On Geekbench, a testing device labelled as "Qualcomm Kona" has appeared. This confirms that the Qualcomm is working on a new mobile SoC and it to be called the Snapdragon 865. Other than that, there is not much info such as which smartphone will come with the chipset embedded as well as the pricing of it.

It's likely that all these chips, including the Snapdragon 865, Exynos 9825, and A13, will be built on 7nm EUV process. It is speculated that the Snapdragon 865 will be announced by the end of the year. Its single-core and multi-core benchmarking scores are better than that of Snapdragon 855. Surely, some flagship device going to be powered with this flagship processor and we expect it might Samsung's Galaxy S11 lineup. While the Snapdragon 855 Plus is the processor for high-end gaming-focused smartphones, Qualcomm has confirmed the development of Snapdragon 8cx processor for Windows laptops. In its multi-core test, the SD855 has scored around 11k. So yes, the new Snapdragon 865 Chipset will be very powerful. However, these chips can't offer the same performance as Apple's 2018 iPhones when it comes to tests.

Also notable is the fact that the base clock speed for the chipset is 1.8GHz, which is higher than the Snapdragon 855's 1.78GHz.

One can also notice that the prototype device powered by Snapdragon 865 is running Android 10 and has 6GB RAM. This means there could be a Snapdragon 865 model that will not feature a 5G modem internally.

Looking at the scores, it is evident that the alleged Snapdragon 865 SoC offers 20 percent performance improvement over the predecessor.
