Facebook is finally testing Dark Mode

Facebook is finally testing Dark Mode”

Pretty much all tech giants are now incorporating Dark Mode in their apps, services, OS.

The next big Android app to get treated to Dark Mode is the Facebook app.

There's no real timeline for dark mode's public release, but Wong says that "it could take time" for an app such as Facebook.

Something to look forward to: Virtually every app, browser, and operating system has a dark mode option these days, but Facebook's main app had been a notable holdout-until now.

Researcher Jane Manchun Wong, who frequently combs through code in search of new features, did some digging into the Android app, and discovered that Facebook was working on a new, darker look.

As is the case with many new Facebook features, Dark Mode is likely going to go through internal testing before it sees a soft roll out to only a fraction of Facebook's user base. She states that only certain portions of the app can be seen in "Dark Mode" for now while the rest of it still needs some refinement. This is because we are at a very early stage of development. In the screenshot as well, one could see most of the text in White on a dark grey background, while the "Groups" mentioned on top is in all Black on the same dark background.
