Nightdive Studios confirm System Shock 2 Enhanced Edition

Nightdive Studios confirm System Shock 2 Enhanced Edition”

Released back in 1999, System Shock 2 was a role-playing survival horror game developed by the former BioShock studio Irrational Games. While we don't really have any concrete details about a release window or pricing, or even platforms for that matter, the company has a history of working on remastering old games for modern systems.

System Shock fans looking forward to the upcoming remake are in for a treat as Nightdive Studios confirmed they're also working on an Enhanced Edition for System Shock 2. Nightdive briefly announced the game on Twitter and said it's "coming soon", but how it will improve on the original and when exactly it will arrive is anyone's guess. We're also to expect System Shock 3 in the future from OtherSide Entertainment, so with the big injection of System Shock games in development I couldn't be more excited.

More news: Sydney incident: Man arrested over stabbing in city centre

Not much information has been disseminated other than the announcement, but it should indeed be a "reinforced" re-edition of the classic title, presumably released only on PC as the original. So we're still waiting for news on exactly what it will include, when it's due for release, and what state it's now in. System Shock 2 is one of the most influential immersive sims of all time, but quite frankly some parts of it just haven't aged well, especially its often un-intuitive skill tree.
