Disney In Early Talks For Live Action ALADDIN Sequel RETURN OF JAFAR”

So he certainly loved the experience, I think both he and Will Smith - even before the box office success, they said it was the best filmmaking experience of their lives and they had so much fun doing it.

"When we made the first movie, we certainly tried to make the best possible movie and see if the fans wanted to see more". We are going to treat it the same way we treat the original Aladdin movie and are not going to do a shot by shot remake of anything that's been done before.

Aladdin tells the exciting tale of the charming street rat Aladdin, the courageous and self-determined Princess Jasmine and the Genie who may be the key to their future.

The live-action film ended the same way as the cartoon, which opens the door for Marwan Kenzari to reprise his role as Jafar in the sequel. And I would say resoundingly audiences want to see more.

The musical spectacle, directed by Guy Ritchie and starring Will Smith, Mena Massoud and Naomi Scott, was released back in May, and has made more than $1 billion (£827 million) at the worldwide box office.

There is a lot of source material to choose from.

"We feel like there's more story to tell..."

Lin went on to say that the House of Mouse would want to explore a whole new world if it were to develop a follow-up film, asserting that the studio wouldn't replicate anything that had been done previously. However, "Aladdin 2" may be inspired from the 1994 animation film that focused on return of Jafar.

Lin, who was a big fan of the original animated movie growing up, said they're looking at all of the different ideas that have been out there in the past in order to tell the right story for fans and for them moving forward. After all, the Aladdin franchise also spawned an animated series that explored more of the city of Agrabah and gave Al and his friends a range of new enemies to battle.

While the public was skeptical about having Smith as Genie from the start, the creative team behind Disney's Aladdin remake was sure that he was the flawless fit for the role, even from the very start.
