Nissan helps you cheat at golf

Nissan helps you cheat at golf”

But to get a better sense of how the auto can drive itself between two points, Nissan took the technology and put it in a golf ball.

The concept is inspired by Nissan's ProPILOT 2.0 driver assistance technology, set to debut on the new Nissan Skyline next month in Japan.

ProPILOT 2.0 engages with the vehicle's navigation system to help manoeuvre the auto according to a predefined route on designated roadways.

An overhead camera detects the position of the ball and hole and a complex computer system then transmits routing information to the ball. When the ball-which has a built-in electric motor-is struck, a monitoring system and sensing technology calculates the correct path and adjusts its trajectory.

No word, though, on whether engineers can guarantee a hole-in-one on that tricky dogleg par-three. and woe betide if you shank this ball into the water. The system is the first in the world to combine this with hands-off driving capability while cruising in a single lane.

It is inspired by the ProPILOT 2.0 driver assistance technology which the firm says will be fitted to its upcoming saloon, the Skyline. It can tell the driver when it thinks passing a slower vehicle is a good idea and calculate the best route-not unlike that responsive golf ball.

Nope! It's a GOLF BALL. The demonstration is available from 10am to 8pm. A limited highway as prescribed by the Road Act. The new system will let drivers take their hands off the wheel on designated roads with the destination plugged into the navigation system.

About Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. The system has not yet been announced for North America. The Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance sold 10.76 million vehicles combined in calendar year 2018.
