Kyrgios gets hot under collar in pre-match row with umpire

Kyrgios gets hot under collar in pre-match row with umpire”

Just a day after he was forced to retract comments where he called the ATP "pretty corrupt", Nick Kyrgios was arguing with US Open officials before he had even started playing his second-round match against Antoine Hoang. Kyrgios dey schedule to play for the Laver Cup wey be the brainchild of ATP golden boy Roger Federer for Geneva straight after dem play the US Open but dem fit no allow am play if e dey suspension sake of say the event go soon become official ATP event very soon. I want to see the rule.

Nick Kyrgios had a relatively easy victory in his first match since saying the ATP was "corrupt", beating Antoine Hoang 6-4, 6-2, 6-4 to reach the third round.

He could meet countryman Alexei Popyrin in the fourth round after the fast-rising 20-year-old continued his superb first full season at the slams with a valiant four-set win over world No.47 Mikhail Kukushkin.

"I knew that the supervisor was wrong when I was out there - but I just folded my collar down", said Kyrgios, knowing he's already facing two ATP investigations for his conduct during and after his previous two matches in Cincinnati and NY.

"I know my behaviour at times has been controversial and that has landed me in trouble, which at times is granted and valid but my issue is around others whether gaining the same, less or more media attention doing the same or similar behaviour and not being sanctioned".

In a statement, the ATP Tour said on Wednesday that it would be formally investigating the comments made by Kyrgios.

Stan Wawrinka, the 2016 champion, was a 6-4 6-3 6-7 (3) 6-3 victor against Jeremy Chardy.

"De Min, I never expect anything less from him, he's an absolute warrior. He said game, he said the score", Kyrgios railed. "I wanna see the rule".

"I'd won the game".

The official allowed the challenge to stand but Kyrgios served it out easily to hold for 5-3, before winning the set 6-4.

Second seed Rafael Nadal moved into the third round after Thanasi Kokkinakis withdrew ahead of their night session encounter with a shoulder injury. He was then sidelined until July due to a right pectoral injury. I believe they thought it stated Simply Do It, just like the slogan. "I was feeling pain putting socks on".

"It's the same reoccurring injury". I'm just happy to get the win somehow.

Nadal, meanwhile, will face either Spain's Fernando Verdasco or South Korea's Hyeon Chung in the third round.
