Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Virgil van Dijk have been named as the finalists for The Best FIFA Men's Player Award.

The award for the best women's goalkeeper will be between Paris Saint-Germain's Christiane Endler, Wolfsburg's Hedvig Lindahl and Atletico Madrid's Sari van Veenendaal.

Luka Modric, who won the award past year after leading Croatia to the World Cup final, did not make the 10-man shortlist.

Barcelona star Messi netted 51 goals in 50 games for Barcelona last season as they retained the La Liga title, but fell to Liverpool in the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Ronaldo also enjoyed success at club level, helping Juventus cruise to an eighth successive Scudetto, finishing as their top scorer across all competitions with 28 goals. The Dutchman had won the Champions League and finished as runner-up in the Nations League building up to his win.

Guardiola's Citizens won the Premier League with a record points total last season, while Pochettino and Klopp were finalists in the UEFA Champions League - which the German going on to win the title with the Reds.

The Netherlands worldwide also helped his country to the final of the Nations League, only for a Ronaldo-inspired Portugal to lift the inaugural title.

USWNT manager Jill Ellis is up against England's Phil Neville and Netherlands' Sarina Wiegman for the Women's coach award.

Messi's Barca team-mate Marc-Andre ter Stegen is among the three finalists for the goalkeeper award, with City's Ederson and Alisson of Liverpool also in the hunt.

Two members of the United States' World Cup-winning side have been shortlisted for the FIFA Women's The Best award in Megan Rapinoe and Alex Morgan, with England's Lucy Bronze also in contention.

The winners will be voted on by national team coaches and captains, selected media and online fan voting.

FIFA, on Monday, announced a final three-man shortlist for this year's Puskas Award.

The winners will be announced at a ceremony at Milan's iconic Scala theatre on September 23.
